Mu Cang Chai rice terraces – the golden season
Every year, at the beginning of September, Mu Cang Chai rice terraces field turns to yellow color. The golden season of rice harvesting start. The Hmong people living up the mountain in Mu Cang Chai – Yen Bai province start to harvest their crops. And it is also the time for our cyclists climb up Khau Pha pass with our heavy camera. We know on the otherside of the mountain, there is an amazing scenery of golden rice – the land of Mu Cang Chai rice terraces.

Not only Khau Pha pass at level of 1,500 m, but also Tram Ton and O qui ho passes are more challenge for you. A 27km long climb up to level of 2,050 m above sea level will take you to Sapa, where the Fansipan peak of Indochina stands – 3,143m. Great mountain scenery on this day. Then you will keep on to HaGiang and up to the Dong Van Geo park – Karst limestone mountain. So by cycling 12 days on this trip, you willl conquer 3 among the 4 legendary passes of northern Vietnam : Khau Pha, Tram Ton, and Ma pi leng pass.
Interesting trip to the home land of the Hmong in Dong Van and Meo Vac, the rocks here dated back to 400 million years ago, in the ocean bed, unbelievable.
