Taking the long road through the northern province HaGiang, traverler enter a remote land of mountains and colorful tribes people whose songs of love ring out about the din of the Sarturday & Sunday market. The HaGiang loop is a fantastic route for cyclist. Save your 10 days for over 800km cycling from HaGiang to QuanBa, YenMinh, DongVan, MeoVac, BaoLac and BaBe national park. This is the best cycling route in Vietnam so far. A shorter trip would be one week from Sapa to TamDuong, LaiChau, DienBien then flight back to Hanoi or you keep on cycling adventure to Laos via TayTrang border crossing.
The ride towards DongVan from YenMinh meanders through grass valleys to climb alongside crescent paddies and corn fields into a ring of mountains the locals called the ” Heaven gates”. Beautiful geological sites on the way such as: VanChai rock books, Sea Lions, LungCam Hmong cultural village, Planet life crisis SungLa, SangTung P/T boundary, Vuong’s family castle (King of Hmong tribe house).

Day 1: Hanoi to HaGiang
Morning tranfer from Hanoi to HaGiang. In the afternoon we start set up our bicycle and have a short ride around Tay villages, nice road in the valley with some hills around the town. O/n in HaGiang.

Day 2: HaGiang to QuanBa (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
This is the challenge day climbing up to heaven gates of the Hmong people (elve. +1,100m). Beautiful view at summit of QuanBa heaven gate, with panorama view of famous MamXoi mountain and nice road along river Nhiem. In the afternoon we cycle around the Dzao village in NamDam and vegetables farms. O/N in QuanBa.

This is a difficult day again, but short climb up about 14km to summit +960m, enter the DongVan Karst plateau Geopark. Then going down hill to YenMinh. O/N at KienThao YenMinh guesthouse.

Day 4: YenMinh to DongVan (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 5: DongVan to MeoVac (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
We have a short ride today, but the Mapileng mountain pass is fantastic. It is the most beautiful mountain pass winding between the Karst mountain in the north Vietnam. This is an interesting site of Geopark with the NhoQue river deep down the hill. Also nice Hmong village on your way down to MeoVac town. O/N HoaCuong hotel. We will walk to market and an old Hmong house.

Day 6: MeoVac to BaoLac (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
There are also nice scenery of the Karst today. We have only short climb up outdside MeoVac, then we have long day down to Niem Son and on to BaoLac. Beautiful view of Gam river from Lybon bridge to BaoLac. O/N DucTai guesthouse.

Day 7: BaoLac to BaBe national park (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
There is a long day heading south to BaBe lake today. Our van will help transfer about 45km out of BaoLac to a mountain summit, then we start our ride on new paved road, some part on dirt road. Lunch break in PhiaOac junction. Then we have a short tranfer to summit of PhiaDen mountain +1200m where we have a long decend to HaHieu and tunr on historical route 279 to ChoRa. From ChoRa we have next 17k to BaBe national park. O/N homestay of the Tay tribe by the lake of BaBe.

Recently there are serveral roads connect BaoLac to BaBe. A full distance via PhanThanh commune will be 142km and a shorter dirt road via SonLo and PacNam will be around 116km. Our guide will tailor the bike route depending on type of bicycle, group size and time permitting.
Day 8: Babe to Hanoi (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
The scenery is continue today. We spend boat trip in the lake and have a short walk to DauDang waterfalls. Cruise back to our guesthouse, swim, refresh for luch break. Then we drive the rest of the way to Hanoi. Farewell dinner in Hanoi. O/N hotel in Hanoi.
Option for cycling : we leave on small road outside Babe lake, then take a steep climb at BangPhuc commune, then down to Phuongvien market, then follow DT257 road a few more km and turn off again on a local road to ChoChu. Our van will pick us up here and transfer to Hanoi.
